Wine Tasting Classes
Wine tastings can be all the more fun if you know a thing or two about wine in the first place. An Intro to Wine course is the perfect stepping-off point before heading out to that new wine bar in town or planning a first trip to Sonoma County.
PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 03, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Like tennis or golf, it seems that wine tastings, of late, have become quite the recreational sport. And what better sporting activity to engage in - to better understand how and why we taste - than The Wine School of Philadelphia's Wine 101 class.
Talking about wines can be daunting for the first-timer. That's where the school's ever-popular Wine 101 classes come in. These classes are a great way to learn about wine in a convivial and smart atmosphere. In this environment - one that puts an emphasis on plain talk and includes a thorough investigation of how one tastes - students begin understanding the importance of sensory evaluation as well as begin discovering the differences between several mainstay wine varieties.
The growing interest in wine education in the United States, and the lack of an Institute geared to meet those demands, is what initially inspired Founder Keith Wallace to launch the Wine School. He opened the school with the intention to de-mystify the many myths surrounding wine while providing outstanding educational opportunities where students could learn about wine in an engaging and interactive environment.
After attending one of the school's Intro to Wine courses, one is ready to mine the world of wine. Whether it's by going to one of the city's myriad wine bars or feeling comfortable purchasing wine for a dinner out at a BYOB, after a Wine 101 class, one is assured they will be able to ascertain the difference between a pinot noir and, say, a cabernet sauvignon.
In addition to classes conducted at the Fairmount address, "Wine 101" is offered in various venues around town, including Pinot Boutique in Old City, and Morton's The Steakhouse in King of Prussia Mall.
