Philadelphia Eagles Present $200,000 Check to Camden Catholic High School Through NFL Grassroots Grant
Eagles President Joe Banner presented the Cherry Hill school with a check for $200,000 to help the school improve the quality and safety of its athletic field. The funds were made possible through the NFL Grassroots Grant program.

CHERRY HILL, NJ, June 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill was the recipient of a $200,000 check presented by the Philadelphia Eagles through the NFL Grassroots Grant program to help fund the school's new synthetic turf athletic field.

Eagles President Joe Banner was on hand to make the presentation, which was followed by a workout by Eagles linebackers Akeem Jordan and Moise Fokou, who ran the student athletes through the Eagles Mini-Recharge stations on the field. Students from the six teams who will use the new field - football, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, and boys and girls lacrosse - participated in the event. The Mini-Recharge event promotes the Eagles' Play60 campaign to encourage teens to exercise.

The grant money allows Camden Catholic to be closer to its goal of completing Phase I of the "Fields for the Future" athletic field campaign. The school is still encouraging donations to cover the $150,000 balance for the upgrades. Phase II, which include the construction of a new track, will begin once Phase I is fully funded.

The NFL Grassroots Grant program is coordinated by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organization with financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields.

For more information on how to donate to the Fields of the Future Campaign, contact Camden Catholic Director of Advancement Mary Whipkey directly at 856-663-8315 or at mwhipkey@camdencatholic.org. The school continues to offer the opportunity for friends of Camden Catholic to buy a memorial brick along its "Walk of Fame" outside the Shamrock Field.
